Children of a lesser god – by Harish Khare

Posted in Uncategorized by realitycheck on April 12, 2006

Here is another article written by Mr Harish Khare in the Hindu. In this artilcle again he tries to hoodwink the public by piggybacking SC/STs with OBCs. Mr Kharey this is getting really old.

http://www.hindu.com/2006/04/12/stories/2006041204861000.htm

Consider this golden excerpt.

Television crews have been despatched to find voices of "merit" that are aghast at the very idea that institutes of management, presumed bastion of merit and competition, are now sought to be pried open to admit children of the lesser gods. Captains of industry are on record as to how a few hundred seats in management schools will erode India's competitiveness in this age of globalisation.

Really ! Children of lesser gods ! Is he talking about OBCs  or SC/STs ?

The children of lesser gods are fine thank you. Many of them own hundreds of acres of farms, attend the best schools in both India and abroad, have maximum political representation and clout. They also beat the children of greater god regularly in entrance exams.

After this assertion there is no point in reading the article further, because it is all emotional nonsense.

If children of lesser god have 80% of MLAs in assembly, belong to the richest community in the state, have maximum land holding in the form of rice fields, banana farms, coffee tea estates. If children of lesser god fill up top boarding schools in ooty, kodai, and also face no discrimination today or have faced in the past – heck we all want to be children of lesser god.

What do you expect from a junk rag communist paper  ?

tell me what is the numerical percentage of your communityin the whole population…

and then tell me what percentage of seats your community occupies in the IITs and IIMs…

i’ve been reading your posts top down(i mean the latest posts first)and have gathered very late that your perspective on the reservations issue is largely based on the t.n. example. nothing wrong with that, except:
‘The children of lesser gods are fine thank you. Many of them own hundreds of acres of farms, attend the best schools in both India and abroad, have maximum political representation and clout. They also beat the children of greater god regularly in entrance exams..’
this assumption that the obcs are’wealthy, powerful’ etc., doesn’t hold true in most of the rest of india.

The Harish Khare article was just Khare’s opinion. Dont judge the entire paper based on one person’s article, that too an opinion.

I dont think you need to attempt correlating N.Ram with Vaishanvas or anything. We really should not be talking about groups when everything can be attributed to an individual.

Actually I started this blog to address the TWO issue I thought will lay the country to waste.

    1. The Naxalite movement
    2. The OBC quotas and the surrounding politics of entitlement

N.Ram and his paper are quite sympathetic to these extremist elements. He is just a very left leaning person. The Hindu today is a pale shadow of what it once was (during the Bofors case for example). Many people are just shifting to alternative papers.

I suspended writing about the Naxal movement for now, because of the current outrageous attempts by the government to play OBC cards in central institutes. Once the storm dies down, I will pick up the Naxal thread. Things are so bad that you can even question exactly how much of Indias heartland is under the states control.

    dear friends and worldmen,
kindly have patience to go through this article and please kindly send me ur comments on my article as soon as possible. if therer are any mistakes please forgive me. waiting to listen from u .
so now i take the oppurtuinity to enligten u with my thoughts.
i am in indian school of mines petro engg. btech first yr, i have passed iitjee air 4516 can u please answer me y the most competent people in the community including u who couldd have been candle bearers for the “Children of lesser gods !” too go on to justify diminishing, social discrimation. Eg. students getting ranks not fit even for nit are deemed to be in iit and people like me who belong to low economic class by misfortunate, should i say are bereft to join an non-iit college despite qualifying the monsterous iitjee after four years of rigorous hardwork. Do u remember y the reservation started
ans. because they were not treated properly by high classes and were denied for the post they even qualified for and it was started with time bounded scenario of ten years after which it would be scrapped but even today it continues and with a worst face today general category students are disregarded worth their talent is this not a reason for brain drain ??? we try to copy developed countries y non- reservation too isn’t amassed. sir and all mty countrymen u must realise that all of us, disregarding our social classes are all son of almighty and we should stride forward to make our sosiety free of class discrimination of which today the upper classes are a victim. Bheesm of MAHABHARATA hold the opinion that if all countrymen leave their selfish interests and try to work for the uplift of the society, the country only then it could be a better place to live on. LORD KRISHNA said to arjun “hey parth tum samaaj mein ho samaaj tumme nahin hay arthaat apna karma samaaj ke hit ke liye lagao”. with these evidences what i want to state is that we should not try to propagate and continue this caste differentiation. i want my lower castes brothers and sisters to come forward, keep aside the grudge against any of ur community brother of upper caste and deny any kind of reservations given to u let these nuisance prank played by the illiterate, duffer, stupid, selfish, black-hearted politicians be curbed and we should stop supporting such politicians who try to use caste discrimination and other inequalities to shine their politics to remain in power. can anyone give me evidence of a single so called “masiha of the dalits or low caste who has come forwarsd to support various tribals who still face the grudge of upper caste in various villages even today and even these forced reservations is what i hold responsible for the propagation of caste inequalities. vande mataram.
hindu, muslim , sikh, parsi, jew, etc. etc., iai sab yahhan ho bhai bhai.
my love and salute to all persons who love and work for tehir country barring their interests may he/she be of upper/lower class.
    love u all
    HKT.
