    Gaurav,

    Ya.

The media covers this issue non-stop. CNN-IBN has reporters outside the girls relatives house in Ahmedabad, NDTV + Times Now are not far behind. Some have reporters in Kalpana Chawlas relatives houses in Karnal, Punjab. We hear Kalpanas uncle or someone has composed a song and he plays it on his harmonium.

Everyone from senior desk editors to pretty young reporter things are yapping nonstop about “landing windows” , “reentry”, “space gravity effects”, yet no one cares to ask the ONLY PERSON who can possibly know about it.

Nobody cares for the ONLY INDIAN ASTRONAUT till date.

Except Reality Check of course 😉

Too bad they didn’t have the plethora of news channels and newspapers then. We sent a man to space and all we got was a staged Q&A with Indira Gandhi (which I admit, was done quite well).

I knew it in an instant. This is old news, so I would not expect the media to get too excited about it now. But back in the day it was a very thrilling news which got extremely wide coverage on DD, especially the Sare Jahan se Achcha bit.

Agree with barb. Its because its old news. Rakesh Sharma did get his day in the sun.

I do agree that he would be a natural choice for an expert panel if theyre doing that (am not following the media) – maybe he was approached and refused? Also getting him in would just add to the hypla, which you are complaining about anyway.

    regards,
    Jai
PS- liked that “getting out of a burning vehicle” clue 🙂

I did not say he did not get his share of coverage.

I am saying that the media is completely ignoring him today. Along with playing up the American Navy Pilot’s accomplishments, this is the time to remind the current generation about Rakesh (the only Indian to go to space).

We are sick of seeing the Pandya uncle (or whatever relative) non-stop on TV.
