Bar attack II

First, a 60 year old Subramanian Swamy was attacked inside the court house in front of judges by advocates.

In an unprecedented and despicable show of intolerance, a group of advocates on Tuesday assaulted Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy and hurled eggs and invectives on him at the Madras High Court hall in full view of a couple of judges. Swamy, who was at the court in connection with the Chidambaram Natarajar temple case, received a couple of punches on his back from the unidentified unruly advocates.

..

Some threw rotten eggs inside the court hall and shouted filthy slogans. The slogans included `Brahmin dog down down’ and ..

Next, the police and the lawyers fought a pitched battle straight out of a war movie.

Though the entire top brass of the city police was present, they could exercise little control over the force. Even when the acting chief justice, flanked by a dozen senior judges, came out of the court and walked towards the battlezone to pacify the warring groups, they were greeted by stones and had to beat a hasty retreat. Justice Arumuga Perumal Adityan who advanced towards the police cordon waving his hands, was lathicharged and suffered an injury on his head. The climax to the clash was the burning of the police station on the campus. As security personnel withdrew from inside the structure, advocates barged in and smashed up the property before setting it on fire.

One of the judges remarked,

“There is a limit for everything,’’ Justice Chandru was heard yelling.

We will not go into the details (but broadly agree with the judge).

This whole incident is very fishy.  Mr Swamy cannot even win 10,000 votes. His opinion on Sri Lanka means nothing just like Cho Ramasamy’s opinion means nothing. 39 of 40 Central MPs are not eligible to participate in the Ooty Dog Show (except Mani Shankar Aiyer – who is a fine specimen). There are only two canines in the Tamilnadu assembly (both not in the ruling coalition). Both of them resemble elephants more than dogs. From the police to education to economy to even temple administration – Brahmins are close to zero.

Whatever harm ‘Brahmin dog’  deposit loser Koombai Swamy can do, 39 victorious and brave MPs should be able to undo. Whatever harm  Rajapalayam Cho Ramasamy can do via his lowly magazine, 22 TV channels and top print media owned by the  Real Tamils should be able to undo.

This caste obsession is making Tamils the laughing stock of the world. The Real Dravidian Tamils should stop pretending like they are still being oppressed by some fancy force. They control the government at the centre in an unprecedented way. Finance, Health, Telecom, Transport,Home, Social Justice  – all are with Real Tamils. The only “dog” Chippiparai Mani Shankar is relegated to obscurity.

Just treat the two old men like comic characters if you wish. Beating up 60 year old people is not very brave. The only place now to show bravery is in the fields of Wanni. If 39 Brave Hot Blooded Tamil MPs and 234 MLAs are not on your side, that is a bigger problem than two powerless old men.

Ignore them.

After the success of slum dog millionaire, the word dog seems to be in vogue. Tired of using tamil abusives the anti brahmin goons have started using english. Now the whole india can understand their point of view. I always found amazing, why the LTTE is against this caste or the other, what is the connection between LTTE and the anti brahmin movement in TN?

    RC,

    That was fantastic.

    Revathi,

The actual abuse was ‘parpana naaye’.It was Chenthamizh.

Dude, in our post modern era, victimhood is best defense against rational scrutiny. You should know, you have written one or two posts on quota 😉

  4. rc said, on February 21, 2009 at 3:42 am

    Of course. Diving deeper –

Assuming every victim group has a sob story of their own.

The question then is not about the non victim groups, but rather restricted solely to the social engineering among the victim groups.

There was an interesting discussion in this blog about the rat eater and pig hunter (which I thought got closest to the problem). See the discussion started by Jai in this post https://realitycheck.wordpress.com/2007/08/05/obc-admission-figures-in-iit/

A victim group says – we hunted pigs in the bushes for 5000 years. Another says – we dug up and ate rats for 3000 years. You really cant *prove* any of their claims to be untrue, because you do not have 3000 year old video footage.

The argument put forth was the pig hunter needs 5 generations to come out of it. This is all good, but what if the rat eaters story is true and the pig hunters is exaggerated.

The response is, do you think the rat eater will wait his turn and watch 5 generations of pig hunters zoom away ? So the only way it to measure the current day relative capabilities of these two groups.

//The actual abuse was ‘parpana naaye’.It was Chenthamizh.//

And “Bemaani Naye” in chennai thamiz. If you are keen on tamil term “மருவுதல்” u can easily Justify “ப்ராமண நாயே” to chennai’s “பேமானி நாயே”.

This Bemaani naaye is used for those people who acts like typical Brahmin or so called upper class(now you can term that to a polished upper middle class society). well no offences to any community!

//what is the connection between LTTE and the anti brahmin movement in TN?//

Revathi, LTTE never said that they are anti brahmins but equal society is one of their agenda of creating Tamil Eelam. you should ask yourself or cho ramasamy or subramania samy or Jeyalalitha. I think majority of people who are tamils do support Tamil Tigers for separate homeland of Tamil Eelam.

Well, if i get a chance i may cut few heads off those dogs who howls about Quota system.

Last but not least, Subramania samy is not a POWER centre but POWER BROKER or otherwise PR for anyone who seeks to be in power. And the owner is anyone who throws a couple of bones. Haven’t you done that to any dogs around? Try it, it works! A faithful dog who wants to help its owner to be in Power. In Tamil, you can say “தரகு வர்க்கம்” which preys on under priveleged.

I liked this dodgy (doggy) post.

My take on the social justice game has always been this: the end is not going to be nice. We are only lacking a Marat or Robespierre. The ones we have now are faint echoes.

Refederating India seems like a totally attractive idea, simply because the whiplash effect will probably be less severe on smaller nations.

    RC,

I agree 200% with your pragmatic views on the Sl issue. Ceasefire is the NEED of the HOUR (else) that fanatical fascist Rajapakshe will annihilate the Tamil population in the island nation.

India needs to intervene decisively NOW, today. Sl should be strongly warned against practising genocide in the name of war against terror (read LTTE).

India MUST NOT keep quiet when a “rwanda” is being enacted in its neighbourhood. I am not telling this because they are Tamils, they are Human beings and it the duty of everyone concerned to do their bit to ensure that the process towards lasting peace is initiated.

  14. reason said, on February 23, 2009 at 8:55 am

Karunanidhi said there is a political conspiracy here. I think that is not impossible. The Sri Lankans had been making all the moves for a final show down. This could have happened when DMK was in power or ADMK was in power. Jayalalitha had been ruthless on LTTE supporters in the past. She is suddenly siding with the lawyers now.

There is no way India can intervene in how Sri Lankans handle a conflict within their own borders. Just like there was no way even the mighty Uncle Sam could intervene in how Vajpayee chose to throw out the last of the intruders into Kargil. The human rights violations reports from Sri Lanka need to be seen in the context of the LTTE using civilians as human shields, and sending suicide bombers into the rescue centers.

The Indian Seculars may have given some hopes along those lines by supporting one section of terrorists in the middle east. Lecturing to Israel that they do not have a right to deal with terrorism. Too bad if you dont figure out the difference between routine vote mongering and real policy. Years of social justice should have trained us for atleast that much now. Social justice is about amending our own constitution and ripping it into shreds. You cant do that internationally short of going to actual war.

RC, Your attempt in Tamil appears to seek to direct some anger towards those in power today (so DMK and Congress). I dont see the point in it.

  15. Revathi said, on February 23, 2009 at 9:07 am

It is amusing to see how my reply triggered off an etimological discussion on dogs. So much hatred towards an unknown person! RC, your tamil is really not bad but I prefer your english.

  16. rc said, on February 23, 2009 at 9:48 am

    >> RC, your tamil is really not bad .. >>

Oh cmon, you can tell me it sucks 🙂

It is too much hard work to write it down on paper first and then get quill pad to spell correctly (which is why I had to split many words)

    Reason,

There have been many stages in the past where India could have been involved in a much more meaningful way. Due to asymmetrical knowledge, we the common people, do not know if there are communication channels open with the LTTE today. Are they or have we cut them off completely ? Are we relying on shady agents in TN as go betweens ?

There is a humanitarian crisis unfolding in SL. The SL forces are not very shy about killing civilians – but the LTTEs own suicidal philosophy must be kept in mind. It is here that India must stay on top of things. The Indian state’s built in tendency to ignore herds of elephants in the room will ensure that we we will probably pretend like this crisis does not exist as well. I dont have the knowledge that people in power do, so I cant tell you what concrete actions can be done.

There is nothing in the way of leadership coming down the pipe from India. The 39 Tamil MPs who make their living out of Tamil have ZERO initiative it seems. The DMK organized a human chain in Chennai last week (during which a cadre immolated himself). Is there no distinction between people in power and people on the street? Is the government protesting against itself? The ‘sharing the suffering’ story is also suspicious. One minute the cadres drown themselves in sorrow for massacred Tamil brothers , the next minute they launch a 24 hr comedy channel in a grand way. Inconsistency, even in protest.

I noticed your recent posts on the topic (will get back to you)

    (Scratchy record)
All this stuff is hard work for politicians. There is no point expending too much energy on this big ticket issue in our ecosystem of narrowly tailored benefits.

  17. reason said, on February 23, 2009 at 10:47 am

it is not clear if the sri lankan tamil issue is a big ticket political issue in TN or ever was. If DMK thought so, that will guide their politics. They could think it is enough to limit it to token protests, and they may be in fact right. After the killing of Rajiv, there is no scope for any agents to LTTE, shady or not.

On the other hand, using this window to fan racist hatred towards one minority (one MLA who can not even claim to represent all of them may be switching sides) or create a law and order problem to effect a regime or alliance change in TN are patently wrong.

  18. Revathi said, on February 23, 2009 at 12:34 pm

MM Singh would like to tread on the SL issue with caution (we have to deal both with the SL govt and the LTTE; do we have the stomach for it?)and you cant expect Sonia to act on it since she has suffered a terrible personal tragedy. So any action if at all, can be expected only after the election in India. The TN govt can ofcourse try and see that the refugees are properly taken care of instead of dividing people on imaginary issues..

U.Ve.Velukudi Swami is doing a very good job of explaining and propogating the Vaishnava version of Sanatana Dharma.

Though at times the discourses are simplistic, and all religious propoganda can be one-dimensional,the Swami is filling a gap.He is serving the national cause in his manipravala (tamil and sanskrit) style.
